As the Quality and Compliance Director for a Medicaid behavioral health contractor, Brett Jossis witnessed the difficulties providers experienced capturing compensation for care provided, and patients’ struggles navigating the system. Solvent Practice Solutions is the fruition of a vow Brett made to help providers and patients. Solvent Practice Solutions, LLC was started in July 2020 with the mission to build a stronger, more financially solvent network of providers who are better able to serve their communities.
Brett served as Quality and Compliance Director for Optum, under the Optum Idaho plan — Idaho Medicaid’s Behavioral Health managed care contractor — holding a contract exceeding one billion dollars. During his tenure at Optum Brett oversaw various functions within Optum Idaho, lead numerous quality improvement projects and proactively advocated for countless healthcare providers. Among other day-to-day duties, while at Optum Brett served as co-chairman of the Quality Improvement and Clinical Advisory committees, directed compliance initiatives, oversaw the Idaho program network integrity activities, coordinated quality improvements efforts for Optum and Medicaid, managed the provider claim and member appeals, oversaw all complaint and quality of care concerns, and worked with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare on a daily basis.
Prior to working at Optum Brett served a Critical Access Hospital in Western Idaho as the Quality Manager, Compliance Officer and Medical Staff Coordinator simultaneously. During this tenure he led the organization to DNV and ISO 9001 accreditation. The Idaho Hospital Association review stated, “Your program should be the standard for hospitals around Idaho”.
Brett's accomplishments include being a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional Biller (CPB), ISO 9001 certified in auditing healthcare management systems, and is experienced in lean and six sigma. He earned his MBA from Northwest Nazarene University, graduating at the top of his class. A double major at the University of Oregon in Mathematics and Economics, he graduated with honors and was the recipient of the "Best Paper" award for his Honor's thesis. In his personal life Brett cherishes his time with his wife and two young children, enjoys camping and playing golf.
